Video of the week.

This video is extracted from a News report, watch the video below and you will understand:

Okay, i admit, this video is late, it actually surfaced on youtube a few weeks ago. But its just to hilarious to not share it. I actually feel bad for laughing as this is a real, reported incident. However, the brother's reaction was so epic! "Hide your kids! Hide your wife! And hide your husband cause he's r*pin' everybody out there!" Huh? What!
And did he say there's a rapist in Linkin park at the start of the interview?

Now, i have found a even more epic autotune version of this interview

It sounds nice actually! There's a nice tune to it "Hide your kids! Hide your wife!" "Hide your kids! Hide your wife!". Kudos to Antoine Dodson and the youtuber that made this awesome song! Now run and tell that, Home boy!

Sports, without competition?

Recently, there is a debate about is Sports in Singapore really getting too competitive. I believe is the competition is increasing, but what's Sports without competition? It is like studying with no exams. Without competition, the gauge of standarts and the desire to improve will be non-existent. Yes, of course Sports must be carried out and played with Sportsmanship, that is an unspoken rule in the Sports world. However, I believe Sports should be played where competitors are constantly eyeing to eliminate the other in a legal and legitimate fashion. (Thats why rules are made to ensure the fairness of the sport)It is the grit and perseverance of the sportsmen that brings out the true spirit of the game. After all, Sports is not all about brawn, It is also a test of the sportsmen's spirit and character, and only in a highly competitive situation, that the true human spirit of the sportsmen can be brought out.

Television, why we watch it?

I don't really watch TV, just a few hours here and there
Thats what everyone says.
However statistics have shown that a person watches 4 to 5 hours of television per day.

Feeling shocked? Here are more unbelievable facts:
1. In a 65- year life, a person with have spent 9 years watching television.
2.Number of minutes a child watches television per week: 1680 ( Compare this to the number of minutes parents have a meaningful talk with their children, which is 3.5)
3.By the time a child finishes elementary school, he would have witnessed 8000 murders on television.

I believe we all have participated in long and dull talks about the negative effects of television, like how it fills your mind with rubbish, how it passes the wrong message. But fear not, i'm not going to talk about the negative effects of television in this post. What i am blogging about here is exactly WHY people watch television?

My take is that we watch TV of escape the confined reality of our space. We watch TV because we want to discover new things, we want to convince ourselves that we too, can be like the people on tv, however harsh and cruel the reality maybe. By watching TV shows, we are transported in a whole new setting, we are set free in a space where sky is the limit, limitations in the real world all do not apply. We get to experience and feel what we probably will not experience in our entire life. I also believe that through watching cartoons, we can inspire creativeness in young children. I believe this is also the reason we get less creative as we age. As we get older, we gradually understand the limitations in our society, and our mind becomes one dimensional and dull, in contrast, the young children's blissful ignorance allows them to think without limitations. Back to the subject, my favourite channel will have to be the Discovery Channel. This is because most of my favourite shows are on this channel. Discovery Channel, as its name suggests, allows us to discover the wonders and insights of the world. Its range of shows go from surviving in the Sahara desert to insights on the world's toughest prisons. Frankly, i love watching Discovery Channel shows because it allows me to forget the heavy weights of responsibility and limitations of the real world. By watching these programmes, i can ignore limitations of the real world like: I am just 14 years old, I am just a student, I have school tomorrow, I am currently sitting on a couch and stuck in my house. Summing up, watching television programmes isn't all that bad, as long as it is done in moderation.

As I've promised, below are my favourite shows:

1. Mythbusters
A team of experts join up to perform countless outrageous experiments to determine what is fact, and what is myth.

2. Man VS Wild.
Ex-US marine Bear Grylls tries to survive in the harshest places on Earth, from the Sahara Desert to the Bone-chilling Alaska plains.

3. Inside
Inside is a show that brings us "Inside" places that are normally restricted to normal people. Most of its episodes are about the situation inside America's harshest prisons.

4. I Shouldn't Be Alive
This programme tells us the real life story of how people miraculously survived from sure-death situations.

Thats all folks, see you another time, another day.

Re-adjusting my blogging focus

Thanks to a comment i received on the chatbox, i am going to re-adjust my blogging focus. In other words, my blog will have a slightly more predicatble template of what genres of posts i am going to put up.

1. News Parodee: Yes, of course, what would be "The Insight" if there isnt News updates mixed with a spoonful of humor and a pinch or sarcasm. The News Parodee will most likely be posted one a month.

2. Video of the month: Being a active Youtube as i am, (Yes, i have a Youtube account) i often come across interesting and unbelievable videos on the internet. That is precisely why i will be posting one video on my blog every week.

3.Academic-based Blog Prompts: Need i elaborate more?

4. Affairs that are current a.k.a. current affairs

Please pardon the fact even I, often have moments of self-reflection and need to express myslef. So please tolerate if i just randomly put up a post with no clear focus.

What if......

What if i am not going to be fast enough?
What if i am not going to be quick enough?
What if i am not going to be strong enough?
What if i am not going to make it?

What if i am not going to have enough time?
What if i will not be able to discipline myself?
What if i am not smart enough?
What if i am not prepared enough?

What if time waits for no man?
What if i get old too early?
What if i lose my opportunities?
What if my life will end with regrets?
What if my life is a failure?

What if i gave up too quickly?

What if my preparation was not enough?

What if i was not up to standart?

What if i fail?

What if the Earth would end tomorrow?

What if i stopped worrying and started doing?

News Parodee: Spain for the win!

In the recent world cup, Spain defeated Netherlands 1-0, emerging as champions. However, many Singapore citizens have complained that the midnight match was dull and not worth the watch. To find out what exactly was the situation, we have our reporter Rebecca Fox interviewing a fan that watched the finals.

Rebecca: Good afternoon, Mr Tan Ah Seng

Tan Ah Seng: Ah, Hello, Hello. Today very hot 'sia', sweating so much.

Rebecca: Yes...Today i hope that you can share some of your sentiments of the World Cup finals between Spain and Netherlands.

Tan Ah Seng: 'Aiya' what sentiments, sentiments don't have 'luh', only have thoughts. I think that the World Cup finals is really very boring. I stay up the whole night expecting it, then what happen? Spain win Netherland 1-0, somemore the only goal was at the 90th minute. What is this? Huh, you tell me what is this. For the first 10 minute i go bath, then until 20 minute i go brush teeth. I thought after 20th minute will have some action, i go on the sofa and wait and wait and wait, all the way don't have any action. Then at the 89th minute i falling asleep that time, suddenly Spain score a goal. I know the octupus predict Spain win already what, but i imagined the score to be like 3-2 or 7-0, nobody want to see 1-0. I know the S-League a lot of 1-0, 2-0, 3-0, but then i expected the World Cup to be much more exciting. That was very very dissapointing.

Rebecca: So, did staying up for the match affect your performance in office later in the day?

Tan Ah Seng: Of course 'luh', I walk into the office feeling so dissapointed, then in the meeting my boss ask me about the sales, i never hear properly, thought he talking about the World Cup, then i just say 1-0. Wah, you don't know, my boss is from Netherlands, when he hear this, he so angry he scold me for 30 minutes straight!

Rebecca: I'm very sorry. Thank you for your time and attention.

Thank you for staying with us for the lastest news updates. More updates coming up in the next telecast of News Parodee.

Rap music

Rap music. Yes, thats what i'm going to talk about today. In Singapore, most people are generally unfamiliar with rap music and have bad impressions about it due to the fact that there are little awareness about rap music here. Rap music is one of my favourite genres of music and apart from rap songs rapping about cash, fame and sex with frequent mentions of vulgarties, which is also known as ganster rap, i perceive rap music as an beautiful form of art. When people hear the word rap, many will immediately think of the countless ranting of vulgarities and gangsters mumbling insensible and illogical words so quick it sounds like a chant. However, amid all these confusion and chaos, there are actually rappers that rap about their truest emotions and feelings and actually make real music. Frankly, i find rap songs like these even more meaningful than other genres of songs. Instead of singing verse and verse, chorus and chorus again, rappers can movitate, express themselves, tell a story and even teach us morals with a rap song. Unbelievable, isn't it? My favourite Rapper will have to be Eminem, his real name being Marshal Mathers. Although Eminem too, isnt perfect and sometimes makes songs that convey the wrong message, one can argue that most of Eminem's rap songs are motivational and convey his true feelings, occasionally telling us his life story. Eminem is divorced and has an young daughter named Hailie. Many of his rap songs are about her and how much he loves her and how he is sorry towards her. I will post some of my favourite Eminem rap songs below:

1.Sing for the Moment

I really like this song because of the message in it. This purpose of this songs is to tell us that when faced with an opportunity, we must fight for it and make full use of what we have. It is also motivational because it tells us to never give up when faced with adversity.

2. Hailie's song

Although this song consists of a lot of singing (yes, eminem can sing), i like this song very much as this is one of the songs where Eminem sings about how much he loves his daughter and how she affected his life.

There are more meaningful and sophisticated rap songs on youtube. I hope that people can gradually understand the beauty of rap and i am still awaiting the day where most of the people in Singapore can accept and appreciate rap music
